Hmm... My boss was talking to his committee the other day during the meeting, ".. Our ppl must be taught to suspend their opinion and listen to what others have to say...."
I feel that what he said was correct but it's difficult to do it. I notice that many ppl are unable to do this. Juz 2 days ago, my aunt called to ask my mom which school to enlist her daughter to. When my mom told me this, my immediate and cynical reply was for my mom to save her breathe as ultimately, my aunt won't listen to her. In addition, from my own experience, it is very difficult to advise ppl to do otherwise once their opinions are set. I, myself have committed this umpteen times. I suppose it's human nature. I further led me to ponder why ppl still ask others for advice when this is the case. The only explanation I can come up with is tt ppl juz want a different voice so tt they can argue with and further convince themselves tt their initial decision was correct.
I shall make a mental note to suspend my judgement from now on.
I juz read this today. It's a qn found in a recruitment paper. Out of 200 candidates who did it, only one was chosen based on this qn. Here it goes:
Imagine:
It was raining VERY heavily and you were driving along the road in your 2-seated car. Along the way, you came by a bus-stop. In it, there were 3 ppl:
1) An old lady who is abt to die (don't ask me how u know, u juz know)
2) Your best fren who had saved your life once
3) The person you want to be with for the rest of ur life (ur dream gal/guy)
Since ur car is a 2-seater, u can only pick up one passenger. Who would you pick up?
Shall disclose the answer the next time I update...
