Advice to a Friend (Edited)

This is basically one of the topics my fren (shall not name) is talking abt in his blog. I wanted to talk abt it some time ago but did not know how to begin until I read his blog entry.. Thanx for the inspiration, mate!

Well.. I always had this opinion when giving advices to friend (when they ask for it). Tt is, as a friend, I shld only pt out wat are the paths to take & the pros/cons of every path. However, I shld not say, "U muz do this, u must do tt." Along the way, I may include some personal bias-ness to the issue but tt is only human and the choice, ultimately, shld be made by the fren in question. this was what I always tot...

Until recently, many events have shown me tt ppl have already made up their mind be4 they even turn to others for advice. In this sense, they are already biased towards a choice. Their reason for asking is just tt they need someone to support them in doing so. Although tt particular choice may have its cons, I will still show my support to them as I feel tt by not doing so, i am only causing them more confusion. In addition (and most imptly), the path chosen is one tt will not have any devastating impact on the person or the ppl he/she knows, or is not sth bad.
If I have serious oppositions against it, I will definitely NOT support the decision.

However, as of late, I'm beginning to feel tt both ways of thinking are in their respective sense, "not right" (I'm not saying tt it's wrong).

The former is a way to trying to avoid the responsibility. From another pt of view, it is somewhat based on a fear of being too responsible for the decision to be made. In addition, it was a lack of confidence of expressing my personal views.

The latter is somewhat of a hypocritical (am I a hypocrite?) approach as I may not necessarily agree with the chosen path. This is not so much abt a lack of confidence as compared to the former (for my case lah).

Well.. I guess there's always more than 1 way of viewing a single issue... haha... And the conclusion is probably tt I am not the best person to turn to for advice... Not sth to be happy abt huh?
