ObituaryThere was a meeting this afternoon and I had to be there to take down notes for my boss. After which, the members had a farewell dinner for a guy who retired and another who has to leave the committee. I was literally told to go cuz the guy who was organising, juz included me in the buffet. I wanted so much to slp at 2000 tonight but......
Anyway, I was eating with some of the members on a table and they were talking abt everything under the sun, mostly crap topics like ghosts etc. This is usually the case when friends/acquaintances get together. You seldom/never talk about anything in depth. Anyway, one of the topics was abt a guys who juz passed away. I asked one of the members abt how he felt that some of the people from his generation are passing on. He said that it is normal and after some time, when you reach a certain age, you would start to flip through the obituary everyday.
Come to think about it, one of the aunties in my office has the habit of flipping through the obituary too. She's rather old too.
Life's quite sad in this sense, seeing your friends/classmates/colleagues passing on in life. It would be so different from seeing your own parents gone. But I suppose once u reach that age, it would be normal.... so to speak....
When will you and me start flipping to the obituary section? 30? 40? 50? There are ppl who die suddenly during runs now, there is dengue fever which took its 11th victim, there are traffic accidents every other day etc. We might as well start flipping today cuz we dunno what will happen.
Morale of the story: Cherish what you have now and who you met.
This brings me to the next qn abt who to go 1st. Would you rather yourself to pass on 1st or your spouse to go earlier? Of course, this is assuming that you can't leave together.

I'm A Singaporean!!Question No. 1: Do I look like a China-man to you?????
Question No. 2: Does my C5 standard chinese sounds like a China-man's chinese to you???
Went for a hair-cut at QB/QC/watever House earlier and got this rather talkative guy to cut my hair. Within the first 5 lines of our conversation, he ask, "Ni Bu Shi Ben Di Ren huh?". I replied in chinese that I am Singaporean and what nationality he thought I was from. He started laughing and said, "Wo Yi Wei Ni Shi Zhing Guo Ren..." Then he went on to say that it was my looks and most probably my sub-standard chinese. I was like, "..........". Anyway, I just laughed it off and we continued with our conversation.
Since I'm never going to get tanned, I have decided that I shall not put in any more effort to speak decent chinese from now on. English is going to my language! So that no more kuku heads will say that I'm a China-man. Not that I'm biased but for god's sake, I'm Singaporean!!
By the way, today is the first time I saw a female having her hair-cut in QB/QC/Whatever House. Amazingly, it really took only 10 mins.
By the way, I felt that having conversation with the person serving you also does play a part in the amount of attention he/she will pay to you. I didn't usually talk to the hair-stylist in the Whatever House and I seriously felt that the hair-cut was a little bit screwed up. But today is different cuz I kinda liked the results... Probably a more personalised service on the hair-stylist's part... Despite calling me a China-man...

New Target: Sony DSC-T5My new target is to get a Sony DSC-T5. It is a new digital camera by Sony. I like it cuz it's slim. 3 x optical zoom + 5.1 megapixels. Anyway, I went to the Sony shop in Wisma ytd. It was the first time I took the time to slowly look around. I muz say, Sony's goods are nice. Even the thumb-drive have some kinda X-factor to it.
Anyway, got so many random thots but too tired to consolidate them.. been shagged out for the whole weekend.. Nights..

Customers vs Sales-peopleThere is an on-going accusation/argument over the standards of customer services in Singapore.
The customers are saying that the sales-people give bad attitude or look at the way you dress etc. The sales-people are saying that customers neglect their pressence , give bad attitude etc.
I personally think that both are right in the sense that not all members of either party are nice or are having the best day of their lives. However, I feel that they are both wrong in pushing the blame to one another. I think it is a cause & effect thingy whereby both are a part of the cause as well as the effect. Thus a never-ending chain reaction of bad attitude.
Instead of pushing the blame and pointing out who is at fault (which is an utter waste of time), why not take the initiative and make the change, rather than expecting the other side to change. Afterall, humans adapt to our environment, not the other way around.
Ha.. Somehow, the above sounds like something ripped off a theory-book-full of da dao li but without the examples. Crap. In short, just show courtesy and don't be an asshole when u shop or when u serve.

Bathing...Happened to be talking to WeiLi the other day about this.. I was saying that I'm the kinda person who must go for a bath immediately after I come home, it doesn't matter where I went, what I did or whether I perspired... I won't stop for dinner or lie on my bed or even sit on my chair (Unless of course somebody is using the bathroom at tt time..) In the worse case, if I wouldn't even lie on my bed after perspiring at home.
I'm not "jie ti" or watever but it's juz the way I am ba... I won't say it's the way I have been brought up cuz I dun remember having been taught tt I must do this.. In fact, I think I'm the only one in my family who is so particular about this aspect. As for my sis, she wouldn't lie on her own bed but she would come and occupy my bed if she hasn't bath.. &%*%%(&(%#@%

Sphere Of Interest
My boss always told me that everybody has their personal sphere of interest. After some time as his PA, I find it rather true but that doesn't mean that I agree with it.
People are selfish. We tend to protect only our sphere of interest. If a task were given to us and it is outside our sphere of interest, we will put in less effort or worse, neglect it altogether. I find that we often tell ourselves to put in our best effort in whatever we do but more often than not, we will put in slightly less effort than our best if the task lies outside our field of interest.
It is human nature afterall..
Anyway, went to watch Night Watch with WeiLi ytd. It was a disappointment. The actions sucks and the way the movie was shot was messy. The storyline wasn't extremely interesting either.

Cinderella ManBorrowed this book from the library last week. Just completed reading it. I think it's a rather nice story but definitely not, a story to spend $8.50 watching the movie for.
Many issues were covered by the book - commitment, integrty, survival, loyalty, judgement by the public vs judgement by the experts etc.
In Jame J. Braddock's(Jim) last match, the opponent (Max Baer) was definitely the stronger one and the experts would have chosen Max Baer to be the champion but because of the audiences' response & cheers, the champion was Jim.
just for info: There was no knock-outs in that fight. Thus the winner was selected based on the number of pts he attained during the past 15 rounds.
There was a quote on the judgement by the public being more reliable compared to the experts. But I forgot to take it down cuz I do not totally agree with it.
Anyway, here are some quotes from the book:
"With each passing day in a good marriage, the love for your spouse grow stronger than the day before" - Cinderella Man
"A man can endure alot if he still has hope." - Clyde T. Ellis
" 'Appreciate It.' 2 simple words. A life span of gratitude." - Cinderella Man
"A boxer enters the ring alone. If knocked down, he alone could pick himself up and keep the fight going." - Cinderella Man
"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do." - Eleanor Roosevelt
"Jame J. Braddock: I know this isn't what you wanted. But I can't win if you're not behind me.
Mae: I'm always behind you."
"People die in fairy tales all the time." - Max Baer, Cinderella Man
"Maybe sometimes people need to see someone do it so they can do it." - Father Rorick, Cinderella Man
"You always got ot figure you're not the best man in the world, there might be somebody better. That's the way it was. That's the way boxing is. The champion don't always stand up. There's always somebody coming up to take him. That's a part of life." - Jame J. Braddock

1 More Reason To Dislike DrivingJust found another reason to dislike drving. I was driving into my carpark on a 2-way, single lane rd. There was this lorry parking by the side of the rd on my lane and a blue cab was coming from the opposite directions. There were also a white car & a black cab behind me (in sequence). Naturally, I waited by the side in case the blue cab didn't wanna let me pass 1st. However, Mr. Blue Cab Driver was kind enough to let m go 1st and so I started off. At this moment, I spotted Mr. Black Cab Driver on my right side (I was going to the right in order to move.). He overtook the white car and got into my blind spot. And bloody hell.. He still continued moving when I started moving off, inching his way forward... He was bloody lucky that I turned and spotted him in my blind spot. I braked in time.
Anyway, being slow in my reaction and never had and exp with pressing the horn, I didn't hroned him. But my dad got pissed and he quickly honked at him like mad.. Mr. Black Cab Driver just drove off. Later, further up and closer to my carpark, I saw him again. I was still quite pissed with him, so I kept behind him and honked at him all the way until he turned out.
I would have turned on my high-beam if the sun weren't still up.
The conclusion: Driving makes people short-tempered cuz u see a**holes around.

Marquess of Queensberry Rules
The Marquess of Queensberry rules are a code of popularly accepted rules in the sport of boxing. They were named so because the 9th Marquess of Queensberry publicly endorsed the code.
The boxing code was written by John Graham Chambers in 1865 and published in 1867 as "the Queensberry rules for the sport of boxing". This code of rules superseded the Revised London Prize Ring rules (1853), which had themselves replaced the original London Prize Ring rules (1743) of Jack Broughton. This version persuaded boxers that "you must not fight simply to win; no holds barred is not the way; you must win by the rules" (17, sect. 5, pt. 1).
The first prize fight under Marquess of Queensberry rules took place in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 29, 1885. John L. Sullivan defeated his opponent, Dominick McCaffery, in the sixth round.
The rules:
1. To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a twenty-four foot ring or as near that size as practicable.
2. No wrestling or hugging allowed.
3. The rounds to be of three minutes duration and one minute time between rounds.
4. If either man fall through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, ten seconds be allowed to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner; and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the ten seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his awart in favour of the other man.
5. A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down.
6. No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds.
7. Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee (is) to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest, to that the match can be won and lost, unless the backers of the men agree to draw the stakes.
8. The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new.
9. Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee's satisfaction.
10. A man on one knee is considered down, and if struck is entitled to the stakes.
11. No shoes or boots with springs allowed.
12. The contest in all other respects to be governed by the revised rules of the London Prize Ring.

Photos & MaturityUploaded the photos of the female ghost. haha.. Thank you, Yvonne for the help!

"Ghost" & meAnyway, read "Youth Link" in the Straits Times today (Lol.. I think I practically know every section in the paper now). They were talking abt the maturity of bloggers. Personally, I just feel tt there r people run away with the idea of "this is me", "I dun need anybody to tell me wat to do, I do wat I want", and act as though their xx yrs of education (both formal & informal) have done nth for them. To me, these ppl who do not know/ignore the basic tact of wat to say & wat not to say, are plain stupid. They do not bother with the consequences of their actions, the feelings of the ppl ard them etc.
Then again, these are probably small acts of defiance to break free of the constraints of our society. To break free of the rules, to find ourselves..
Another random thot for today is tt despite the common view that rich kids are spoilt brats, I find tt this rich colleague of mine is rather nice, friendly & "shui bian"... Nice chap..
Anyway, can't wait to go to see the dentist for my braces. This consultation appt is on 23 Sep. Have I mentioned tt I have always liked Ewan Mcgreggor's smile/grin since I caught The Island? haha... After 2 yrs, I'll have 1 part of me which has reached "shuai ge" lvl, tt is, my teeth.. crap... I tink I better go n sleep now... I get crappy when I'm tired...

"Ghost"Went out for dinner with Choo Hui, Yvonne, Qin Yi, Lionel & Guan Yik ytd. Before that, I had to go all the way to bedok with my mom to visit my auntie and teach my cousin some tuition.. So I was quite shag ytd.. Anyway, we went to Newton Food Centre for dinner and after tt, we walked all the way to Orchard Cineleisure for coffee.. Along the way, we met this "ghost" who was walking along Orchard Rd to promote a new online game called FEAR. Anyway, Yvoone was kind. She helped me to take a photo of me & the "ghost".. haha.. can't wait to get it from her.. I shall upload it here when I get it..
Btw, I noticed a recent change in taste recently.. I'm kinda more attracted to gals with fair complexion now... haha... see too much gals le...
Anyway, as for ideal gf quality, I tink I have only 1 thus far: Xian Qi Liang Mu but dun intend to have kids... lol...

"It's my responsibility." - President George W. BushKudos to Mr. President of US for his integrity & moral courage to take responsibility of his decision and its causes.
At his position, he could easily pushed any a**holes to take the blame but he stood up and took repsonsibility. Of cause one may argue that it is probably just another diplomatic action but I choose to take the less cynical pt of view.
Along the way in life, more often than not, we'll have to make our own decisions which may affect not only us, but ppl around us as well. It is then a test of our moral courage & integrity to stand by the decision & take responsibility, be it to success or to failure. Do I have them?
Anyway, Ai Tian is bugging me for my ideal gf qualities after she read abt Weili's. No. I do not have a list of ideal gf qualities yet and I dun tink i'll really have one.

Life?It was a busy day today. I just had so many things to do but cldn't complete them cuz of reasons here n there.
Anyway, there was this WO who was waiting for a meeting to end. He was waiting in my boss's office cuz they knew each other. Thus I politely asked him if he wanted a glass of water but he ended up telling me his PoV abt life. I guess he wanted to talk and I happened to be there. So I politely sat down and listened to him for a good 10 mins be4 I excused myself to continue my work.
He was saying that there shld be 3 phases in life:
- 1st 20 yrs, to work hard
- 2nd 20 yrs, to work very very hard
- 3rd 20 yrs (probably last), to relax a bit
His argument is that u shld work hard & study for the 1st 20 yrs, work even harder for a living in the next 20 yrs and in the 3rd phase, relax and do the things u always wanted to do. This is because u wld be too old and weak if u wait any longer.
He also talked abt how our generation is so different from his as we tend to leave our parents and lead our lives when we grow older, thus leaving the 2 old hags to sit at home and stare at each other. This is in the sense like we go out with frenz instead of parents once we reach a certain age etc. This, according to him, is because we r now living in "small pigeon holes" as opposed to them, who lived in clusters of kampongs. My PoV is that we are gradually being westernised and we tend to grow on their culture. Personally, I have always found it a rather cool idea to be able to buy my own apartment or at least buy with a mutual fren and live independently rather than staying at home. I suppose it is because I have watched too many HK serials since young.
He also mentioned that we are all in this rat race, chasing after our dreamz. However, if we stop & take the time to think, is our dreamz really what we want in life? Pt to ponder..
2. Went for a swim after work. Nice! I shld have more of it every week. I formulated my ideal ORD-clear-leave plan while resting in between laps (slacker!). Every Mon, Wed, Fri - take afternoon leave and go for gym, followed by swim. Every Tue & Thu, whole day leave. But I wld gladly give this plan up if anybody wants to go overseas.. Lol..
3. Came to notice that I have changed quite a bit in the way I eat. The last time I really bought a big bag of chips to eat was like more than 6 mths ago. i have reduced the types of junk-food intake to only chocolate cuz I juz can't bear to live without it. The rest, i can live without. I have also reduced the among of prawns I eat after I ate a dish of prawns tt was literally full of shit. I guess I'm becoming more aware abt the food I eat as I grow older.. More hum??? lol..
4. Found out abt this
site from Joel. Quite fun. U can create ur own south park characters from it. I have created a south park version of me when I'm in Uni and with braces below. I would dye my hair brown in future and considering how much of a slacker i am, I wld probably wear bermudas to Uni. My aim in Uni-life: To have the Ultimate Slacker Look!!

Top 10 List.Hmm.. What would your reaction be if you found out that you have been selected by members of the opposite sex to be placed among the top 10 babes/hunks in your workplace? Fattered? Or angry? Lol.. Found out from a guy friend that this list was started in his workplace and the plan was to do that in secret via email. However, it failed drastically when a blur guy sent the email to one of the nominees. My friend was noted by his superior for sending the email.
Anyway, thinking abt trying for USP in NUS next yr...... Sourcing for more info...

1 Big Burger and Chilly Crab.I met Sharon & gang for lunch at Jurong Pt this afternoon in celebration of Qian Hui's birthday. We ate at Billy Bomers (Forgot the spelling) and I had an Allstar Burger. Man.. It is soo huge. After lunch, we walked ard in JP and I eventually bought another Nalgene bottle cuz mine was spoilt. "Nalgene bottle oso can make spoilt", was Sharon's remark.
After tt, i came home to leave my stuffs and went with my family to No SignBoard in ECP for dinner. The chilli crab is good. Basically, I find tt all the chilli related gravies are good but too much of the "wei jing" (watz the eng term?? MSG??).. I was soo thirsty after the meal..
Shag.. shall be a pig now...

Dun Get Married If You Intend On Fooling AroundThere was a whole section of ytd's Straits Times dedicated to the issue of single parents and failed marriages.
My stand on the 1st point of failed marriages as a result of husbands/wives fooling around is that, don't ever get married if you can't settle down. It sickens me to hear married people joining clubs & societies, and make use of that opportunity to flirt with members of the opposite sex, who are married too! No bloody sense of respect for their spouses, respect for family, self-respect... Ultimately no integrity. There is no justification to flirting/looking for another one when u are already married. If you get sick of your spouse after so many yrs, spend the energy thinking about how to rekindle the love you once possessed, Not on looking for another one. I don't even have to bring in the kids here... The promise is made. Keep It!
The 2nd point was about single parenthood. This is probably a result of many things like premarital sex, broken marriages etc. Whatever the case, it is a tough decision to make and a tough journey to travel. My deepest respect to those who made it and brought up their children, and also to those who are still struggling.

Park Han Byul Was surfing through some forums today and came across this Park Han Byul's thread. She's a korean actress who was spotted after she posted her photos in the korean-style of "beautiful people". Then she appeared in a double A commercial, I think. Followed by "Wishing Stairs". Anyway, I'm not a fan of Korean shows and frankly I have not watched any films she starred in except for the double A commercial. lol... Anyway, here's her photo. By the way, she's definitely not a trans-sexual cuz she had some photos of herself being in sch. She looked very normal then until she went for double eye-lid ops. Chio~

I-River H10Went back to Comex again, with my sis & her bf, to look at Sony NW - E507/S. It was a little bit of a disappointment when I found out tt the 1 GB model was sold out by the time I got there. However, when I went to the I-River counter, I found out tt H10 was selling at $399. I was telling myself be4 tt if H10 drops to less than $400, I would buy it. So I went ahead & bought it. Luckily, my sis chipped in $199. So I only have to pay $200 for it.
Just a side note: Of all the counters in the exhibition, I think I-River has the best design of outfit for the sale-girls! There is also one of the chioest sale-girl in the whole exhibition hall!!! lol... Many boys fell prey to her and ended up buying I-river products... I know cuz I waited for an hr at the counter for a free G-Masking of my player.. Sad to say, I was entertained by a stupid fat guy who's a little bit deaf... lol..
After purchasing the player and got the G-Mask on, we went for dinner at the No-Sign Board Restaurant at Esplanade. Wah... The chilli-crab is good!!! 5 Thumbs!!! Amazingly, despite white pepper crab being their chief's recommendation, I only saw 1 table ordering tt dish while the rest ordered chilli crab.
We only got home at 2100 and I had to send my player for charging... Sad..
Anyway, I took my last 1/2 day leave of the yr today to work on starting up my player!!! lol.. sounds stupid of me to do so but my boss was not in the office and I completed my work. haha.. basically, I'm satisfied with the player and its software. I was sooo happy when I dl all my (downloaded) mp3 into the player and only used 800 mb.. I'm now trying to encode my CDs into my player.. the encoding process is sooo slow....

NW-E507/SWent to play lan with Young & his fren, Ah Toot (nickname) at Paradiz ytd afternoon. We played all the way fr 1415 to 2000. Wanted to leave earlier to go to Comex but decided to wait for them n go together. We ended up there with only 30 mins to look ard but it was enough.
I was only there to look at the mp3 players (i-river & Sony, to be specific). I dun really like i-pod cuz of all the hype over it. It's juz too common.. Saw the new i-river T10 and the new Sony NW-E507/S. I must say that i-river T10 looks sucky in terms of the design even though the colours are attractive.
As for Sony NW-E507/S, the design is juz so sleek. wow.. The only set-back I know thus far is tt the file transfer is so slow.. USB 1.1 only.... The price: $339.

NW-E507/S
On the other hand, I-river H10 is still at a high price of $418. It only dropped by $20 (according to Young) since its release. Sigh..
Considering..... Waiting...
By the way, something I got off watching Jui Dui Superstar, it appears tt it is beginning to be a trend for guys to wear jeans with a silver chain hanging across the side of one of their laps. JJ Lin and many of the past contestants wore tt during the show. JJ Lin's one is especially cool..

Jue Dui Superstar..
Well.. I kinda expected the results rite from the day I read Xin Ru's blog on the topic of Wei Lian winning. While watching the competition, I understood whyXin Ru was so unhappy the other time! But I still felt tt WeiLian would win cuz I feel tt him winning wld be more "significant" in a sense.
As for ppls' complaints abt sympathy votes, I disagree in a sense cuz I feel tt there are ppl who really want him to win. Juz sympathy votes alone won't help him a lot. But of course, there is already a pool of sympathy votes to begin with.
Anyway, after observing Wei Lian last nite, I feel that he is kinda like someone who doesn't know how human expressions look like. For example, his smile doesn't look like one tt is filled with happiness (take Kelly for comparison). Somehow, I juz feel tt he doesn't know what a smile looks like but he is still trying to put on a smile. I pity him cuz his blindness has taken sth away from him but it hasn't taken away anything that makes him human. In fact, I feel tt it has given him more.
Well.. In retrospect, this entry sux but I feel tt if I dun write it down now, I won't write it another day. It is juz for my record to read it one fine day when I feel like it...

Random Thots For The Week1. It is a total irony tt juz last week in Urban Life, they were talking abt sg gals who dress like "clones". And this week, they are saying tt the exact same style is considered "well-dressed" amongst the undergrads. So our best is our undoing?
2. The difference btw ladies & guys: they look for different things when selecting photos. My mom was sellecting some photos to develop and I was helping her. She only selected photos which includes herself, my sis or both in the scene. On the other hand, i wanted to choose photos of juz sceneries..
3. A comment fr an officer who juz went back to NUS for course, " I saw a couple eating lunch when I was there. They were kicking each other's legs while eating. I almost wanted to say, 'u r here to study lah, not kick here kick there'." No. 1 priority in uni shld be to study....
4. Another comment - "when I went there, the students there were obviously teenagers but they talk like adults do and like very serious like tt. wat the hell.. trying to act adults.." No idea wat to say but i find it very funny...
5. i have a sudden desire to wear my black turtle neck and go with my jeans when I next go out.. I tink I'll look quite gay and the weather sux.. see how bahz...
6. my mom bought quite a lot of wristbands for me from london.. I noticed tt abt 1/3 of them are abt cancer.. Armstrong foundation, brest cancer, prostate cancer (gg to be my next favourite after armstrong!!), another cancer one from sg..... wow...
7. i saw this ang moh guy on the bus in town a few days ago.. wow.. I think he is so shuai (not tt i'm gay). I juz think ang moh guys are handsome. Like Ewan McGregor in The Island, I think his smile is sooo full of charisma.. No offence(dun flame me!!), I seriously doubt the taste of our sg gals who like those taiwanese, korean men etc. Maybe it's juz tt i'm different...
8. Saw an ang moh gal in holland village on sunday. wow.. damn chio... I guess I juz like the western look.. lol.. By the way, do you know tt Adrian Pang's wife is a caucasian?? I saw it in an article in 8-days.. wow..
9. My colleague was commenting tt when you go to National Skin Centre, u get to see some very chio patients, but you never know if their cheek- skin came from their ass or any other places...
10. Another colleague was commenting tt contrary to the common belief tt god is fair, if the population of chio gals in evey JC follow a bell-shaped curve, you are bound to find chio gals in schs like RJC. Thus they have both looks & brains. However, if you look at the big picture whereby there are some gals who *ahem* both, god is actually fair.... How crude....... But i think the theory itself is funny...
11. After thinking abt what Mr. Jason Lim commentted in the past and some events, I think I'm too old to be looking for a gf now. I'm also not going to just look for someone to get married with or to have sex with. I want someone to grow old with. Think abt old couples who walk in parks or if they are rich, travel together... Another thot, I tink tt a relationship tt places a lot of focus on having sex with each other is a screwed up one...
12. I wld like to extend my appreciation to Weili for lending me some of his self-help books. I advocate tt all ppl shld read these books.. It helps in a way...
13. End. Shall find some time to read up on some of my past.......
