I'm A Singaporean!!Question No. 1: Do I look like a China-man to you?????
Question No. 2: Does my C5 standard chinese sounds like a China-man's chinese to you???
Went for a hair-cut at QB/QC/watever House earlier and got this rather talkative guy to cut my hair. Within the first 5 lines of our conversation, he ask, "Ni Bu Shi Ben Di Ren huh?". I replied in chinese that I am Singaporean and what nationality he thought I was from. He started laughing and said, "Wo Yi Wei Ni Shi Zhing Guo Ren..." Then he went on to say that it was my looks and most probably my sub-standard chinese. I was like, "..........". Anyway, I just laughed it off and we continued with our conversation.
Since I'm never going to get tanned, I have decided that I shall not put in any more effort to speak decent chinese from now on. English is going to my language! So that no more kuku heads will say that I'm a China-man. Not that I'm biased but for god's sake, I'm Singaporean!!
By the way, today is the first time I saw a female having her hair-cut in QB/QC/Whatever House. Amazingly, it really took only 10 mins.
By the way, I felt that having conversation with the person serving you also does play a part in the amount of attention he/she will pay to you. I didn't usually talk to the hair-stylist in the Whatever House and I seriously felt that the hair-cut was a little bit screwed up. But today is different cuz I kinda liked the results... Probably a more personalised service on the hair-stylist's part... Despite calling me a China-man...
