Tuesdays With MorrieI literally stumbled upon this book when I went to the library last week. Ha.. It is another book about an old man (remember Abraham's Promise). However, they are different, Tuesdays with Morrie is more of a dying old man (Morrie) and his own set of "culture". A culture that accepts love, hugs, tears more than money, cars, houses.
Morrie suffers from some illness that causes his muscles to cease functioning progressively. Eventually, it worked to his lungs and he'll die of asthma. Ha.. forgive me for notnaming the disease as I absent-mindedly returned the book before I blog about it. Anyway, his best student (Mitch) paid him visits since since he learnt about his teacher's impending death and together, they started to work on this thesis/story.
The book basically addresses many of the issues that haunts our generation or the one before us. Marriage, money, love, forgiveness - basically, the things in life that our generation's culture fails to address or led us to focus on.
It is overall a nice book. If you like The 5 People You Meet In Heaven (by the same author), you should read this. I think it is better. If you don't, read it nonetheless.
This book led me to wonder - will a certain teacher of mine look at me with disappointment as I shunned his teachings and become as pragmatic as I am?
