PositivityHa.. The key to winning people over is to sound positive in whatever you say. Saying is believing. It sounds fake but this is what people are looking for in a sense. They don't want to find someone who is lost. They want someone who knows exactly what he/she wants and is positive about it. Be it interview for a job/position, getting to know new people etc. The positive usually stands out.
Not to make it sound hypocritical, there are merits of being positive I guess. "Looking on the bright side of life" is something sprung out from the idea of staying positive. It does make this harsh reality a better place to deceive yourself into staying in.
Ha.. At the rate this is going, I think I'm going to sound really negative by talking about death then.
Anywayz, I believe in something that probably I have not been nurtured to believe. I believe in a certain sense of commitment. Sometime I feel that I don't see too often in the "role models".

Marathon Of Broken SleepsI woke up at 8 this morning from a series of broken sleeps since 6 pm yesterday. It is both detrimental and helpful for sleep-deprived-me. Somehow, I have been all so tired for the whole of last week. I guess it must have been the cycle of caffeine I got myself into. Anywayz, here's a look at the last couple of days.
27 Jul (Thu) - went for USP rag as usual but somehow got into the comm for USP D&D as they so happened to have the 1st comm meeting then. I'm in publicity and must thank Ai Tian for helping me to do some photoshop things on tt day.
I was asked the forbidden question by a hong konger from USP - "Are you a foreigner?" Ok. It isn't as bad as "Are you from China?" but he was 1 step to that. So I asked why he asked. His answer was that he felt that my English is accented but he didn't know from where. I'm a Singaporean! I am SO proud to be one at times like this.
28 Jul (Fri) - went for comm meeting for USP D&D. After that, met Bee Chun who checked into her hostel in Raffles Hall. My 1st thoughts after looking at the room, "Heng Arh! I'm not staying here." After tt, we went to Raffles Place to meet the rest of the OG for gathering. We met Bao Lai along the way but he was on his way back to NUS. It was a fun filled evening and with loads of crap. We then went to Brewerkz for a drink before going home.
It appears that the kind of 1st impression I give to people varies from Chao Ah Beng to Studious. Bee Chun thought that I looked like some reformed chao ah beng after joining a-certain-religion. And this chao ah beng had loads of gfs before. (how ironic when i'm still single like all the way?) Marc thought that I looked studious. Yong Kai n guys thought I looked like PRC scholar but they thought not after seeing Alex beside me. Patryce agrees with Bee Chun. &&&*^)@$#$
29 Jul (Sat) - Apparently less than 6 hrs to sleep is bad for shopping. You just feel like sitting down and yawn away for the whole trip but lunch at NYDC was rather noisy with my sis and mom. Got home at 6 and went through a long series of broken sleep until this morning.

How Long Does A Bunch Of USP Students Take To Decide What To Do Next?I have been helping out with the USP rag thingy for the past 2 days. Boy.. We sure take long time to decide what needs to be done. We spent nearly 20 mins discussing over how to secure a rod to a metal bar. Nobody got down to doing anything because of the endless uncertainties and almost endless ideas. My empty stomach at 7 pm + tiny streak of impatience decided to end the discussion and did some hands on.

A Sinful AfternoonI finally got to try the fried mars bars this afternoon. I so happened to call Jun Hong during lunch and he so happened to need to go to Far East to get some stuffs. Anywayz, the verdict is that other than it being fried, there is actually nothing great about fried mars bars. However, it is good to indulge yourself in the sin once in a while.
After that, Jun Hong recommended that we try the little turkish restaurant at the corner of level 2. We had some Doner Chicken Sandwich, which essentially is meat meat and more meat.
We decided to walk a little after that but ended up at Starbucks for a coffee as fatigue overcame us.
Lastly, we went to look for a gift for one of Jh's female fren. He got a pair of slippers in the end. To which, I exposed jh to a whole load of crap as I grew tired along the way. (FYI: I evolve into a crapping machine when I grow really tired). Looking back, I think the winning line of the day is, "Hey! That is a lamboghini! Let's chase after it!" (we were walking on foot)

SVC - Olympic DreamHaha.. Been up and around since 7 this morning. I went to Singapore Poly to attend the SVC - Olympic Dream. SVC stands for Students Volunteer Corps. Met the grp (Shi Min, Xin Jie, Si Ru, Jia Le and gang) at Dover. We spent some time looking through photos taken during the YV camp last Dec. haha.. Somehow the verdict is that I have changed a lot since then. Hmmmm... Anywayz, we started with a tally match between our clients (participants from AWWA) and another beneficiary. We lost the game but it was fun going through it all.
Glad that this has come to an end. The journey has been fun. There were times when I lost the drive to move on but luckily, I didn't back off for I knew that I would regret it somehow. I guess I just need regular energisers. Anywayz, here are some photos. I used the trump card to get all the kids to get into the photos! That is to just grab and shoot! wahaha..

CampSorry guys. I have been in the Chem Eng Orientation Camp over the past few days. Didn't have the mood to blog anything before leaving...
Anywayz, the camp was fun! Got to know some pretty funny bunch of pplz and the activities were pretty packed, which is good cuz we didn't spend a lot of time waiting around. However, mass dance was a killer. We had to dance to some song by Rain. Through out the dance sessions, I was like, "Somebody just kill me pls!!" To make things worse, I was forced to stand in the first row.
Just a slightly more detailed breakdown:
Day 1 - Met my OG. Listened to some presentation by the prof (which I decided to shut off for the period). Played some ice-breakers like the ouch ouch obi obi game. Had lunch and went for food race. Also met the sp... Blind folded and I got conned into singing, eating mouth-to-mouth etc.
Day 2 - Dance. And then went for Amazing Race around Sentosa. Tiring but fun cuz we pratically ran all the way, at some parts without shoes too...
Day 3 - Beach games. And finale nite. haha.. I dived into never-waking sleep when my OG went for supper after the dinner. I cldn't wake up when they tried to wake me to play some games. I didn't even know. (and I thot I was a light sleeper)
Day 4 - A pretty screwed prize giving cum de-brief session. But our OG pon and went for lunch after tt.
No photos for the camp but here are some from my YV prog.

DisappointmentsSo much thoughts. Don't know how to pen them after so long.
Time.
Initiative.
Effort.
A part yet apart.
Should I stay or should I go?
Why me?
Where does the problem lies?
Something is definitely missing.
Comfort.
I need.

14 Jul 06 - Yet Another DayMy
initial plan for today was to stay at home to ponder as I look at the wall (mian bi si guo), at least for the afternoon. However, my mother wanted to treat me to lunch. Thus we went to
Outback Steakhouse to have my all-time favourite
Alice Springs Chicken.
After which, I thought that since I was already out, I might as well pop over to NUS to check out what the USP comm is doing for the rag day. Initially, I was told by JunWen that there were already a few freshmen working on it. However, I got there to find only 1 freshman. I helped out a little before leaving.
Then I thought that since I was already at NUS, I might as well pop over to Holland V to look for some gift ideas. And so my initial plan went out of the window....
Received some smses and a particularly early msn msg at 12 mn this morning for birthday greetings. Thank you, guys! Haha.. I also received an overseas call from a dear friend who despite being attached overseas, still remembered to wish me happy birthday at 1 am over there. Thanks. Haha.. Also, not forgetting the cdo boy who called right after his training.

You Know When A Guy Has A Crush When...He mentioned that he thought he saw one of your female friends on the street. So the story goes that Guy X saw Gal Y during my party. X thought Y to be quite hot but he did not have the guts to approach and talk to her. 1 week after the party, I coincidentally met X on the street and happened to conversed about how he was too shy during the party. He went on to mention that he thought he saw Y on the street some days ago. However, after some descriptions, I think it was a case of mistaken identity.
No prices for who Y might be. As for X, I figured it is best to keep his identity a secret. I found it to be a wee bit comical

Helping or Helped?I went for the briefing on the overseas trip to Myanmar thingy. Well.. I didn't get shortlisted to go because I gave a pretty lame interview. This was because they brought the date of the trip forward, I didn't have the time to prepare for it and they are going to Jakarta instead of Myanmar. So why did I go for the briefing? I just wanted to find out how it works etc. I wasn't going to jump in and go anyway. Through the briefing yesterday, I learnt a thing or 2, much as I didn't like the tone of the guy who was briefing.
I learnt why I found it difficult to say I want to help those people when I was asked the reason for joining YVIP. The truth was that I didn't feel that I was helping them nor was I making a difference in their lives. They are the ones helping me and making a difference in my life. I learn from my experience with them and from seeing them in their lives. I am satisfying myself more than I am satisfying them. Another way of thinking is that to them, I am but one of the many volunteers who visit them. To me, they are the few clients I'm attached to.
Anyway, before the briefing, I went for a walk around Ann Siang Rd and Club Street. There is a nice little hill park in Ann Siang Rd and there is a nice little restaurant in Club Street,
Windows on Club Street. I also saw a nice shop on Ann Siang Rd,
Style Nordic. However, there are more pubs than cafes along those streets. I must make a trip down to Amoy Street before school starts.

WalkI took a walk today. Went to the Red Bus to collect some stuffs as I forgot to do so the other time. After that, I had quite some time to kill before meeting Lin Run to look for Ai Tian's gift. The weather was fine. So I took a walk to Killiney Rd (Or is it street?) to look around. I didn't take a look around the last time I was there for dinner with Yvonne. I caught sight of a nice little shophouse along the way there. Then I went to Plaza Singapura for a while and then took a bus down to City Hall. Still with time to kill, I went to Seah Street and Purvis Street, and ended up at the National Library before I headed back to City Hall to meet Lin Run at 7.
It has been so long since I last walked for so long without my earphones on. Somehow the noise around just seemed so pleasant. I also came across the
Mint Museum of Toys at Seah Street. Shall grab some people to go there with me some time soon. haha.. Who's on?
Just a dream, 1 fine day, I'm gonna be able to call Orchard my neighbourhood!!! 5 mins walk from my place!! And I shall go there in my singlet and shorts!! lol.. I'm joking about the last part.
Anyway, about the shopping for gift part. We found out that to cover your hp with swarovski crystals cost a gd 200 bucks and they do not provide the cheaper variety of crystals that they used to. Wow.. The personalisation fo your hp may jolly well be as expensive as your hp itself. in the end we didn't get anything cuz lady Chia decided to get her own. So much for our plan of purchase but oh well.. I would do the same too.. I guess.
By the way, anybody interested in this?

Bull-talkingBloody shit.
We believe what we see to be the truth. However, it is based on personal feelings, stereotype and judgement. There is a chance for it to be wrong but I suppose we will never learn the truth. It doesn't really matter anyway.
Since the day it happened, leaving would have been the best option. I believe that once the trust you have in someone has been damaged, there is no reason whatsoever to continue whatever relationship you have with the person. If in any way, both of you still matter much to each other and the relationship continues, it will take every effort (let us name him/her) the culprit have to rebuild the trust. Sacrifices must be made. This will lead to a situation whereby the culprit loses "power" and is restricted in whatever sense to maintain the delicate trust. It is a major sacrifice to be made. Commitment is key to it.
However, I never believe in the adage, "time can heal all wounds". Bullshit. It only hides the wound. All these sacrifices can be made but a small little incident can spark off the recollection of past "sins".
Obviously, in the case I'm referring to. We were the reasons to continue. Time has past and the commitment ain't strong enough to give strength to the resolve to sacrifice. Or maybe I should say stupidity is reason for it all.
---
The thing I hate abt myself is that I can change a fucking long chain of curses to some lame load of bull-talking.
I have kept quiet through it all because there is a chance that things might revert back. I know I am not one who'll quarrel with somebody and joke with the same person before the matter is resolved. Especially, when the person matters. Thus I will not say anything that only make matters worse. Anyway, it doesn't exactly matter whether you shoot another arrow when millions are being shot. It doesn't help to jump into the affray.
Now there's a chance that things will change.

To Live AloneHaha.. I popped the question about living alone to my mother this morning. It invited a response which I expected. I simply felt like poppoing such questions every once in a while. An example was my "What if I am a gay?" question which invited a full Sunday of advices that I shouldn't.
Anyway, for my question about living alone, my mom went into a whote string of pros of living together. To rid of loneliness, money issues, etc. In short, No la. Well.. I wasn't in the best shape to argue after 5 hrs of sleep and I wasn't going to argue something so far into the future. I might really wanna live with them in future or I might not. I might have the cash to buy my own shophouse or I might not. The uncertainties of life. Although I am pretty sure that the first thing I'll want to save up to buy is an apartment or my dream shophouse, we'll see how things go when I finally have the power to make the purchase.

21st Birthday PartyThe place, the food, the time, the gifts have nothing to do with it. It is the people who made the biggest difference. *Touched*
Some incidents/comments from yesterday:
- When I introduced my sister as my friend (to my friends), they thought that she was my girlfriend!!! BUT she is 7 years older than I am!!! Argh!!
- My birthday hat got stolen by Ah Bok. Not once but many many times!
- Comments by several Army friends, "Your female friends are not quantity but quality. I don't understand why you are still single!" To which, my comment was, "Of the ladies at the party, only a handful were single and none of them are interested in me leh. Bie ti le."
- Saw a tall and handsome "stead" of somebody.
- Tried to introduce Charles and Woon Seng to some friends but they were too shy.
- Many Army frenz cited that Ah Bok is chio but she obviously wasn't interested.
- Received a "wanking" equipment from the usual co who never ceased to buy me somewhat erotic gifts over the 7 yrs we known one another. Haha.. To speak the truth, it was my 1st time seeing something like tt.
- To WeiLi, I understand why you wanna buy another one for yourself lo. Go ahead mate.
- Most importantly, major contributions from my sis for helping me with the planning of the party. We are going to watch Superman tomorrow... Then porbably treat her to dinner or sth.
- And of course, WeiLi for helping out with the decos.
A lot of my photos have got red eye... sigh... so pls if u have any, send to me. thanks.

After Thoughts On 21st Birthday Partyhaha.. Had a great time this evening! Thanks to all those who were present! And of course all those who tried their best to be there but for some reasons could not. Nonetheless, all of you made it a special day for me. Thank You! I'm sorry if I had not been a good enough host though.....
It is part of the norms to hold a birthday party for your 21st. I believe it is this that makes this age special cuz the party and the freinds with you make it memorable.
I was made to give an impromptu speech after blowing the cake. I mentioned about the presence of all who were there. I meant it.
haha.. low productivity @ 353 am in the morning. I need rest but can't bring myself to go to bed. I shall try now. Shall post photos tmr.

Wishlist CAA 6 Jul1.
A pair of Oakley slippers - white base (as in the part we rest our feet on) and black strape (The part that keeps our feet in place). In view of superstitions against footwear, vouchers for this will do. Or somebody can just find someone to buy another item from Oakley so that we can enjoy 20% or 25% off. Lol. (Outlet In Takashimaya Level 3) 2. A pair of
Ice Iridium (Blue) Oakley Half-Jacket XLJ replacement lens. 3.
Vouchers from a sneakers shop, Star Three Sixty in Wheel-lock place - Onitsuka Tiger - I was told that they don't have vouchers for the shop until end of Jul... :(
4.
A thumb-drive. 512 mb or 1 gb will be good. 5.
A pair of Earphones cuz mine is quite spoilt - I don't want those noise-cancellation, in-ear kind of earphones cuz I just don't like the idea of plugging those things into my ears. 6. A Red Calvin Klein Underwear. I shall not state my size here.. haha..
7.
A watch. Something more of rough wear? A steel watch will do but I don't have one in mind. Must be light and of course nice la. I am slightly bimbotic when it comes to purchasing. Or maybe RipCurl's 24 Seven (white). haha.. 8. A Nalgene Water Bottle - 500 ml & above.
9. A black leather belt. It is for formal wear. I do not have much preference on this.
10. A tie. I usually buy plain shirts la and some that I have are of relatively darker colours like a dark shade of purple. I suppose this helps..
11. More fitting tees? haha.. I was overtly exposed to beach wear over the last few yrs and frankly i like them well. So you can expect that most of my tees are slightly over sized. thus more fitting tees will be good. I wear M from brands like Quicksilver. I am looking for those white/black tees with gold printings on them.
12. A sling bag for Uni. Something simple, nice, can hold lect notes, lappy.. I DO NOT need another Krumpler bag please. I actually saw a lap top bag but I'm wondering if people simply carry a lap top bag to Uni. I saw a black laptop sling bag (with handle) at Timberland..... Hmm..

Shopping TripHaha.. Had a fun shopping trip yesterday evening. Went down to town with Yvonne and it so happened that Timothy was meeting Sharon to get my present. Since they were getting something off my wishlist, Yvonne and I joined them for the shopping. Anyway, they got me a pair of Oakley slippers and told me to bring it home myself, without any gift wrap. :(
haha.. But it was funny though I was pretty shag by then.. Had gym before going to town...

Wishlist CAA 5 JulThings ain't ever clear until you find the right words to say them. I am willing to sacrifice all my time in each Semester to get better grades and hopefully get opportunities for some overseas thingy during my four years in Uni. A friend mentioned that she didn't understand why some people spend all their time studying and miss out the fun of other things. Well.. It is a priority kind of thing, I guess. I ain't a clever person, I have to make sacrifices for what I want.

What does your heart tell you? - Believe in thyself. Ignore the logic. Forget the friendly advices. Ignore the second thoughts. Move. Just let thy heart dictate. Engulf in the passion. Don't bother how it will end. Live for the moment.
Any further thoughts will make the desire grow. Missing the opportunity will ensure that you look back and query, "why did it happen or not happen so?" The moment your heart moved, it has been decided.

A watch. Something more of rough wear? A steel watch will do but I don't have one in mind. Must be light and of course nice la. I am slightly bimbotic when it comes to purchasing. Or maybe RipCurl's 24 Seven (white). haha..8. A black leather belt. It is for formal wear. I do not have much preference on this.
9. A tie. I usually buy plain shirts la and some that I have are of relatively darker colours like a dark shade of purple. I suppose this helps..
11. Hmm..

The Difference Between A Guy & A Gal
Haha.. I can't help but marvel at the difference between the 2 sexes. I read recently that when guys have a meal together, they will end up splitting the cost evenly at the end. As for ladies, they end up calculating who should pay how much exactly. How true...
Anyway, here was what I was marvelling about. Compare the following extract is from Qin Yi's blog (hope you dun mind!) to mine made yesterday:
"So what do you get when u put 3guys and 1 girl on a cycling trip at the East Beach, dotted with babes clad in nice shorts and tops, sunglasses, tanned bods and muscles, puffing dogs, smells of the Banana Tanning lotion and sun block, salt, sea spray, Cable skiing, Gigantic Sun, REd faces and Blar Blar Blar...?
The answer is, ok the girl gets a "toner" thigh when she goes cycling with 3 guys, who unwittingly, reserved a "Full day" cycling spree.
Maybe tmr my legs are gona look like frog legs.
Yhew.
Lucky no casualties.
So Wj = my dearest black pig,
Timo n e white ken who wana get tan and me, the girl who wana stay fair but end up getting tanner than the White one who kept continuously spraying his Banana Tanning lotion (Note: SPF4... Compared to my SPF30, also Banana brand sunblock and cost more expensive... Rats.. $#%$%Y&%&$^$Y$Y
GEnetic problems... (*Throws hands up in exasperation)
So ken and me were cursing that we shld exchange some genes.
It was quite a fun cycling spree..
From East coast, we cycled to the Concourse.. and wow.. Suntec is indeed not far from East Coast. And the guys were looking at me in wide amazement when i pushed my bickie into Suntec for free air-con.
(-_-)
Anyway we needed to cut thru Suntec due to roadblocks.. so after not much psychoing, all of em safely got into Suntec.
Just Imagine: Sweat, Tan, Banana Sunblock and Suntan smells, Grease, Bickies, sneakers, and 3 scandals, and not many people gaping.
Lucky they dint take up my dare of cycling in Suntec Shopping mall... Quite a neat idea rites? *Grins. Pity sharon caught the fever. hahaha if not she may support my silly idea..
Think i got a bit tan.. and really bummer. Imagine if i din even put sunblock, with the scorching temperature today, i swear i'll be a walking charcoal.
O and speaking of walking charcoal with its striking resemblance to a dead black corpse, we all sat inside an Ambulance..."

Cycling @ ECPWent for cycling with Qin Yi, Wei Jian and Timothy. Sharon was supposed to join us but she fell ill. We rented our bikes at 12 and were planning to cycle to Changi Village for late lunch but there was the Osim competition, which resulted in our path to Changi Village being blocked. We made a U-turn and cycled all the way to Suntec City, only to make another small U-turn to Concourse as Timothy wanted to go to the Starbucks there. We chilled out before heading back to return the bikes. My legs are gone!!
So why have we cycled for so long? Cuz Timothy and I thought that $6 are for hourly charges, and we chose the full-day charge of $15. Then when Qin Yi and Wei Jian came, they followed suit but they also informed us that there was actually additional 30 mins for every hour. Anyway, with so much to spare, we just kept cycling.
As can be expected, I am a red lobster now. And I thought the tanning lotion will cause me to become tan and not red....... Sigh...
Haha.. Had some -very rare- men-to-men chat with Timothy while riding. Haha.. We sounded like 2 rather old men talking but it was nice to have someone thinking the same way in some sense.

1. Lol. (Outlet In Takashimaya Level 3)
2. A pair of
Ice Iridium (Blue) Oakley Half-Jacket XLJ replacement lens.3. Vouchers from a sneakers shop, Star Three Sixty in Wheel-lock place - Onitsuka Tiger
4. A thumb-drive. 512 mb or 1 gb will be good.

England vs Portugal: AbandonedStupid dad. He promised my sis to go and watch the match with her at 11 pm. He promptly went to bed at 930 pm. Leaving me, who just woke up from a 15 min nap, to go with my sis. The 1st half was so boring that my sis almost fell asleep. Lol. She was out the whole night before. So she chose to abandon the match to catch the Brasil vs France match later. I heard a "Goal!" echoing from Bt Panjang Plaza when I was in the shower. How unlucky.
