Gossips have their funny ways of working to my ears. They come to me from people I least expect to, people I hardly know, occasions when I simply want to play and can't be bothered and so on. Even my own mother has a habit of sharing news of others whom I hardly know, with me. Sometimes it is nice to know certain things but sometimes it just sucks to know anything at all. One of the worst is gossip about family breaking up. Husbands cheating on wives and wives getting to know by checking on their husbands' handphones. And the recent one that I heard of is father who worked as a bus driver to earn a keeping for his wife and 3 sons. He lost his driving license some time ago due to an incident of drink driving. After some time of jobless living (2 of his sons are working), he later found a job but got diagnosed with stomach cancer. You think that's bad? His wife is out with another guy! And his sons know about it but help their mom to cover it up. What kind of shit is this? Well.. Given that there might be things that the father may have done wrong, I still feel that there should be a certain sense of family value here.. oh well.. Who am I to judge?
On a separate note, my mom was going to donate money to a blind beggar some time ago. She was a little confused over where she should place the money or how she should hand it to the beggar since he doesn't have a thing to collect the money and his hands are full. During the little confusion, he reached his hand out a little in the direction of my mom. I guess it was pretty obvious that he wasn't blind after all. I did consider telling my mom to not hand him the money but decided against it. No doubt I do consider it to be a fair degree of cheating but I am a privileged kid like many others. We grow up in manageable families who don't have to worry about many needs in life. It gives us a leverage to talk about the importance of values and stuffs as we do not have to worry about survival. It feels kind of wrong then to condemn a person for infringing on certain values...
